  gosh...
real work is hard :P Today I went to GAP/GID and was hit with a multitude of questions about powerpath and clustering, stuff I'm not too familiar with. Even worse the guys from Red Hat outnumbered me.

I have so much to learn!

  can't....move
Today I felt so lethargic at work it was unbelievable. My right arm pretty much just died. I don't know why it's sore, I haven't been doing much in the way of exercise besides shooting hoops.

It doesn't help that I suffer from ADD, I couldn't focus at all. All I did was complain to some friends who prolly got sick of me. The good news is that I think I'm pretty much "surfed out" for now, and will start reading some docs again. I have to find out how some people have so much passion for their jobs. What's the secret!!!

  Things change
Typical morning except I'm stuck at a boring meeting where I know nothing about the concepts zinging around the room. Basically I just check my stocks on my phone (all up today!) or play the texas hold 'em game. Eventually one of my friends is kind enough to call me on my phone so I can excuse myself for a few minutes.

Anyways I check my email and HOLY #@%$ MY BOSS HAS RESIGNED! That was my unexpected WTF moment for the day. Then the mind starts to ramble and wonders what will happen. Luckily things aren't in complete turmoil. They will probably promote someone in-house ASAP. Also I got put on a project that I may or may not have the skillset for. Nice huh?

I just hope my new boss will be a bit more proactive in my development and put me on assignments my development path calls for. But I can't really say anything bad about my old boss, he was a cool guy to work for.

1) He hired me.
2) Very laid back managing style.
3) My drunk friend took my phone, dialed him late at night and he was cool about it.

I gave him a call later that afternoon wishing him good luck and we chatted for a lil bit. Maybe it's good that things will be shaken up because I've been extremely lethargic at work the past couple days. It's difficult to motivate myself to study w/o specific milestones in sight. Need to see some pretty girls or something :p

Oh yeah a guy from my old job called me up and wanted me to apply for a job at the new company he is working for. I dunno if I can shake the rust off the programming skills. I prolly will stick it out with the current company until I feel like I've accomplished something.... course I'll ask about the money tho :)

----------------

Ong Bak was cool. So many elbow and knee thrusts. Sideways is 'meeeh' so far.

I finally got a ringtone manager for my phone and already imported my fav ringtone of all time -- the one Tony Soprano has. Toooo goood.

Why does my birthday always fall on Mother's Day???

I have a bunch of Yahoo 360 invites if anyone wants. Basically yahoo's attempt at friendster. Now all they need is to incorporate the Yahoo calendar and it'll be Home-ster (inside joke)

Shameless plug if you are REALLY REALLY bored and REALLY hard up for cash. Don't say I didn't warn you. It's really shameless. But if this makes money for the founders, just goes to show you how simple an idea can be to make money.

  Taxes and other stuff
I filed in time! (ok my mom mailed my returns, so what. I have work) Gas is a f--king @!#$#@!$ bitch, I need an electric car. I think I will take Steve's advice and start filling up at Costco.

So I am pseudo-turned loose at work, I do some installs solo now. First time was yesterday, I get word that i have to go to GAP/GID to configure their SAN. It was either SF or Rocklin, thank god GAP got the cables configured at Rocklin so I wouldn't have to head out there.

So late Tuesday I send out an email to the PM about start time and location. He doesn't reply til Wednesday morning and I head out at around 7:30 ish because my damn Outlook shows an 8am start time. I exit at the SBC Park area and drive around looking for unsecured wireless networks to tap into. Finally I get my email going and the PM calls me so I'm ok for time. My co-worker doesn't show until a few hours later so I was slightly freaked when the GAP guy asks me a bunch of questions. Not exactly the most knowledgable consultant yet but I do the best I can. Unfortunately we finished at 4:30 so I just went home. Next Tuesday I'm heading back out tho to finish the job and will probably partake in some late night activities there. Woot woot! Frisco.

Bah work.

Still selling my unneeded junk on craigslist/ebay/amazon. And might have a quickie web programming contract gig (yay $$$).

I need to focus.

My Warriors take - Bill Simmons said it best when he wrote:

Classic Warriors: They roll the dice on a former All-Star who ends up playing out of his mind, turning the team around and screwing up their top-four lottery spot.

So while that is true, the Warriors are definitely much more fun to watch and are perhaps a solid big man away from reaching the playoffs next year. The draft this year looks pretty dicey anyways, who knows who will be good. So I don't mind them making a late season push with nothing on the line because the draft looks weak.

Baron Davis is almost (ALMOST) making forget that this is the same team that let Gilbert Arenas, Larry Hughes (seriously Gilbert and Larry are siiiiiick this year), Antawn Jamison get away. And who signed Derek freakin' Fisher. And IDUNNO Foyle.

  Postage
Recently acquired a few new songs that were so good that they made me want to buy a set of drums and an electric guitar and start learning them...

DRUMS AND ELECTRIC GUITAR TOOOO GOOOD

Yeah the beats/riffs were really that cool. Unfortunately as a kid I studied the requisite instruments of the typical Asian - piano and violin. Then again the school didn't have a program for "rock band" either.

------------------------------------------

Job is going okay, no huge complaints. Today I had to do a ton of Brocade zoning, something I never did in lab because my partner LOVED to zone :) So I had the two seconds of panic where I considering running out of the data center, tripping all the alarms, and screaming "I no know zone!" After that momentary brain-freeze, I figured it out in five seconds. Tons of stuff screwed up towards the end however, and we'll have to fix it tomorrow.

Today Navisphere was acting so slow we joked that it was running bubble sort to order the damn WWNs. -_-

I still get calls about jobs from my old resume postings on monster and hotjobs, but nothing looks better than what I'm doing so far.

Oh yeah, here's the perfunctory hot girl-sighting-that-threatened-to-change-my-life report. Driving into the Pleasanton office I see some asian girl driving out in a black Mercedes, hot beyond belief. The girl not the car. We gave each other a couple glances. That pretty much made my day... oooh the power that they possess.

Game Reviews:

Tekken 5
is the shit, I've been playing it a bunch. The graphics are the best on the ps2 by far, the music is much improved, and better yet it's a ton of fun to play. I have a Kaz character at Deity rank and working on Nina/Asuka/Feng right now. My execution has gotten a ton better over the years as I can now do wavedash/bdc consistently as well as dash electric. It's not like I practice a whole lot, something just clicked in my brain. I wish they brought back Tekken Ball tho, instead of the stupid mini-game that they spend way too much on and still sucks. The CG in the game is of a ridiculously high level. They use hollywood style camera framing and effects. Unfortunately no arcade emulated TTT in Arcade History which would have made the game perfect.

NBA Street V3 is pretty sweet with the trick stick and all but it's essentially the same game it was two iterations ago.

Burnout 3 is immensely fun to play! Too many games to play, so little time.

Quick Movie Reviews!

Aviator- I liked this one, but its not one of Scorsese's best. Follows the Goodfellas arc, shows the good times first, then the bad. DiCaprio gives a good performance, Cate Blanchett is VERY GOOD as well (the accent is dead-on). Visual Effects are handled nicely by Rob Legato and crew.

At least now I understand the Howard Hughes references in that one simpsons episode ($pringfield where Mr. Burns builds a casino).

Million Dollar Baby - probably deserving of its Oscar win. It's very good throughout but the third act is a knockout (pun intended). It's not a boxing movie, just a movie with boxing in it.

Closer- oooh man this one has been hit or miss with the critics. I really liked Clive Owen and Natalie Portman in this one. Jude and Julia's roles aren't as juicy so they can't do as much. Good dialog. The movie depicts a more realistic protrayal of love perhaps.

Of course I can't leave out the recent episodes of Arrested Development, which have been utterly zany beyond comprehension and a blast to watch. Ben Stiller, Buster's hook, Mrs. Featherbottom, Franklin the puppet, and an endless array of jokes. It helps that some of these characters are reaching "Simpsons-esque stupidity" i.e. Tobias not knowing how to play a MiniDV tape and sticking it in the much larger cassette slot of a VCR. Please please please don't let this show be canceled!!!
