Cell phone reps me: Hi I'm inquiring about corporate discounts on equipment for EMC employees, specifically on the treo 650? I'm calling for a friend since I already got mine but she's having trouble talking to someone that has a clue.
her: ok let me pull up the file.... can I put you on hold?
her (talking to someone in the background): Why do you want me to lie to everybody!
her (talking to someone, slightly muffled): But how did they get it? ... That's lying!
her (to me): yes we do have a 45% discount off equipment and 13% off plans, but you have to go to a Cingular store to get it.
me: wellll it sounds really shady because I already ordered MINE off the phone and I know it's possible. WTH is going on here.
her: hold on.
her (in the background while i'm supposedly on hold but can hear everything she says): Take your time because he may be mad.... make him wait?

I forget the rest but it was really funny to hear (prolly cuz I already gotten my phone). The humor was more in the desperation and intonation of this particular rep's voice. It's semi-nice to know that some people care about honesty although eventually she caved and gave me the corporate spiel. Anyhoo my friend got her phone eventually although not w/o some caveats.  ¶ 9:11 PM
