dead pixel fixed!
After bemoaning the discovery of a dead pixel on my Dell 24" LCD for weeks, I flicked at it out of frustation the other day. This was after prior attempts to clean it. I discovered that the pixel was elevated compared to the rest of the screen, and a 2nd flick got rid of it!
I probably scraped off a bit of the anti-glare coating, oh wells. At least I don't feel like I got a $850 lemon.
hmmm
You know that a parody is a classic when it ruins the source forever. Chappelle show in particular, with the Law and Order parody. Whenever I hear that "dun dun!" I think of that skit. As well as the one skit when Chappelle plays Puff on "Making the Band."
Anyways, all that stuff is still circulating in my head.
Cir-cem-vent ...
Arrested kills me, even if not all the new episodes have been stellar. I recently bought the first two seasons on DVD and marveled at the originality. Hopefully it gets picked up by ABC or Showtime and gets the justice it deserves.
Currently playing: Fix You - Coldplay. Had the X & Y album but forgot about this one until it showed up in the
King Kong commercials.
unhealthyness
my recent foray to the grocery store yielded breakfast bars, hotpockets, breakfast burritos, parmesan goldfish, haagen-dazs, and energy drinks. The worst offender? Probably the strawberry milkshake pop tarts.
Having the daily allowance is causing food to dominate my thoughts.
Four more work days till a well deserved vacation.
Home sweet home.
After working two 12 hour days, it's great to be home for the weekend. Travel IS fun at first but grows tiring. Nothing compares sleeping in your own bed. Plus I'd missed my 24" LCD monitor. *smack*
The main reason that I'm back is to attend my team's Christmas party. Working remotely and out of state means I haven't seen my coworkers in quite a while. The good news is that one of my buddies is going to head out with me to Dallas next week. I can't really talk about the project, but things are in motion and I'll be needed in various parts of the country for support. This is my opportunity to shine, every move I make will be highly scrutinized.
My life is ...
Nothing is on TV late at night. Strangely I've been drawn to the HGTV channel, the home renovation/selling channel. Not that I'm going to be doing interior decorating anytime soon but I enjoy the aesthetics of a successfully designed house.
Reminds me of Ed Norton watching those informericals in
Fight Club (Fight Club reference +1).
Jitters
I'm thinking that the NBA analysts don't get a chance to prescript what they are going to say, unlike the ESPN sportscenter guys.
Both BJ Armstrong and Dee Brown had major hiccups. Although at this point BJ looks like he will be better after he does a few more shows. He's got a good voice and probably knows what he's talking about. Tho he did say "full steam of head" and "Antoine Key Walker."
At least he knows to shutup during the highlights unlike Dee Brown's "ooh" and "oooh" and "oooooh..."
night out ...
Alright, time to give people a good story, other expounding on the qualitative elements that make up perfect sushi.
My night started out with a sushi dinner (wait, it gets better) and ended up with me partaking in the nightlife of Scottsdale (woot woot!). First I made the decision to go eat sushi instead of just grabbing something fast. Then I happened to go to a particular sushi restaurant/bar (Stingray, nigiri kept falling apart in my chopsticks, booo) where I met my fellow cohort. This brother was pretty well connected in the whole scene, throwing parties with his buddies that had huge turnouts, going to events like Kanye West after parties, etc. I mentioned I was from out of town and he decided we were going to party that night.
No objection here..
First stop was Bourbon Street in Phoenix. Sean warned me that Skins in Scottsdale was superior but he knew some of the girls there and had a better chance of hooking up. When we got there it seemed like every one of the girls knew him. :o If Bourbon Street is average, Skins has to be off the charts. Almost all the "dancers" were hot. $10/$20 table/VIP. Several of the patrons were hot girls, they got special attention.
After that we headed back to Scottsdale to hit up Six. There was no line when we showed up but the place was completely packed. You couldn't turn around without two girls slithering by you. An interesting feature of the club is the unisex bathroom. Basically there's a divider between the washrooms that allows for "communication." Six was chockful of flawless beauties, very much the "Scottsdale plastic" that my coworker had told me about. In all fairness, there were only a couple obvious examples. Those surgeons do good work. I talked to some of the girls, their occupations ranged from "real estate agent" to ... "real estate agent." I'd read about ppl spending money like millionaires even if they aren't ("$30,000 millionaire"). $$$ definitely talks.
We were there all of ten minutes before deciding to bounce to Suede. That club was equally packed, if not more so. There was a huge line but we got to sneak in ahead of the crowd w/o even paying the cover. Hookups! Met a bunch of Sean's friends, very much the partying type. Lots of brunette bombshells along with the usual stacks of blondes. I think I've seen maybe two fat girls the entire time I've been here. Everyone just works out like crazy and eat like birds (add plastic surgery to the mix). People didn't even go for pickup lines, the standard modus operandi was to stare at a girl nearby and go "DAMMMMMNN!!!" or make some other similar comment.
When they kicked everyone out, I lost my ride and had to walk home. A fight broke out but it was mostly a ton of posturing. Took me five minutes to find my hotel.
So I did the unexpected that night but I do that once in a while.
